Sardes Educational Services

Sardes Educational Services is an independent agency providing consultancy and R&D services in the fields of education and welfare in the Netherlands. Sardes is not subsidised by the government; we conduct projects on the basis of contracts with ministries, local authorities, schools, welfare agencies etcetera. Sardes was founded in 1994 with the aim to improve the transfer of research results to policy and practice.

An innovative approach Sardes has introduced a number of innovations in the Dutch system. In the past, research, development and advisory services were strictly separated. In this context, an agency like Sardes, which operates as a small nucleus within a broad network of experts at the national level and which co-operates with local institutions in the development of programmes, is a novel concept. Perhaps the most important innovation introduced by Sardes is the direct link that is forged between research, policy and practice
